The path towards entrepreneurship (part 2)

I remained in my full time job for around 6 months, after receiving my Style Coaching™ Diploma. During that time, I was contemplating what kind of business model I should adopt. Although the idea of becoming a full-time Style Coach is appealing, I was concerned about how profitable this kind of business will be (As much as I love this discipline, I have to ensure I can make a living). As many people would consider a service such as Style Coaching™ a luxury service, the element of mass appeal is lacking. After a series of brain-storming and nights of planning, the idea of setting up an online fashion store which incorporates Style Coaching™ principles was conceived.

What happened next was a series of planning and logistical processes including but not limited to the sourcing of the right website developer, sourcing for products (including potential affiliation programs), looking for a model for photo-shoots, logo and business cards creation and seeking out suitable marketing channels for the business. Due to the volume of work involved in starting this new business, I decided to quit my full-time job to focus wholly on the preparation. So far, it has been a very exciting albeit at times, bumpy journey. I faced the problems that many new start-ups are likely to encounter such as a tight budget and uncertainty about how to publicize the business in the most efficient way without overspending. Despite these, I am glad that I have taken “the road less traveled” as only then can I have a chance to fulfil my dream of owning my own business (I equate having my own business as similar to having my own child).

In my next blog article, I will share with you on how starting my own business prompted me to lose some extra weight!
