The path towards entrepreneurship (part 1)

Having previous experiences in learning to establish a direct sales company, it does not come as a surprise to me that starting a new business is not going to be an easy ride. In fact, just DECIDING on what kind of business to go into can already pose a challenge. When I was younger (still schooling), I have thought of becoming a fashion designer. However, I was not confident that I can get into design school as I can’t really stitch or use the sewing machine (trust me when I said I have really tried!)

As I am still very interested in fashion after working for a few years in several organizations, I decided to do some research into this area, to explore the possibility of going into this arena. It was then I came across the Style Coaching™ Course offered by the Style Coaching™ Institute based in UK, with an office in Singapore. I was drawn to this course as I find the unique combination of Styling (focusing on external image) and Coaching (focusing on internal self-image) skills very intriguing. I love the idea of being able to help someone look good on the outside and feel great on the inside at the same time.

So I signed up and studied the course, completed all the assignments diligently and took on a practical exam in which I have to give a pro-bono client a complete make-over based on the Style Coaching™ principles. The whole process was great fun for both my client and myself and I was delighted when she told me how much her new image has helped to boost her self-esteem, and that she has received many compliments for the improvement in her appearance.  This process also prompted me to take more effort in my own appearance, so that I learn how to use make-up to enhance my natural look. I cannot be any happier!

My family and friends are really surprised to see the transformation in me and just like my client, I received many praises which make me feel a lot more confident in myself. I strongly felt that there is a lot more I can achieve and started to think about having my own business in this area.

In my next post, I will share with you more on my journey towards entrepreneurship. Keep a look out!
