Casual French Dining at Poulet!

Time flies and it has been about two months since I visited Poulet (pronounce as Poo-Lay, meaning chicken in French), a casual French dining restaurant located at Bugis+. I never had much interest in French cuisine as my impression was that the food is extremely expensive and may be too exotic for my liking ; for instance, the thought of eating snails (escargot) is just not appealing to me. However, about half a year ago, Bernard and I decided to give the food at Poulet a try as we observed a long queue outside the restaurant which to us, implied that the food should be quite decent. Although we liked the food at Poulet, it was only when my friend suggested to meet up there that we visited the restaurant once again, this time to celebrate my girlfriend's belated birthday.

lberico Pork Belly with French Mustard, $15.80++

Poulet Roti (Roast Chicken), 28.80++

Bernard and I loved the pork belly! Although the portion is surprisingly small, the taste was fabulous with every bite melting in our mouth! This is probably the best pork belly I have ever tried though I must say the price is quite expensive for such a small serving. The roast chicken was really good too as the meat was very tender. However, what make this famous dish at Poulet really delicious is the chardonnay sauce that comes with it! The sauce tasted like a special concoction of western style mushroom soup, with a light yet creamy flavor that goes very well with the well roasted chicken.

And here comes dessert:

Tiramisu

As you can see from the picture, the tiramisu is uniquely served in a glass container with a thick layer of coffee powder on it. The taste is as special as its presentation; unlike the normal tiramisu cakes served in cafes, Poulet's version of the tiramisu is extremely rich, soft and creamy. An interesting deviation from the usual and worth a try if you are looking for something different. At first bite, I nearly choked on the coffee powder and you may want to take note of this.

The restaurant was very crowded and warm on the day we visited so the ambience was not as good as we hoped. Overall, the experience was good as both the food and the company was fantastic :).

New Style Match and Dining at Hot Tomato Restaurant

I believe skater dresses are hot favorites among many ladies as they are flattering for almost any body shape and size. I seldom come across any designs that carry vibrant red or orange floral prints on a black background and therefore, I was delighted to find a number that fulfills this description.

I love this number as it makes me feel both sensual and feminine at the same time! Not only are the floral prints beautiful, the fabric feels luxurious on the skin as well. I am especially impressed with the way the fabric was cut such that the floral prints are abundant on the skirt area but sparsely arranged on the top half of the dress. This make the dress look really well-tailored like a designer piece with the prints looking proportionately distributed without being too busy for the eye. 

After the photoshoot, we went for western cuisine at the Hot Tomato Restaurant! This was actually the third time we went to this restaurant and I finally got the chance to introduce it here:

Mash Potatoes with  Black Pepper Sauce at $3.90++

Spicy Chicken Wings with Sweet Chilli at 7.50++

Fish and Chips at 8.50++

We love the delicious mash potatoes with the supper yummy black pepper sauce.  In fact, we always have to ask for a second serving of the sauce when we visit! The spicy chicken wings were well made and really crispy with a tantalizing peppery taste. The fish is a little disappointing though as the fishy taste was still apparent after it was deep fried. We have previously tried their Rosemary Chicken (half) as well as pork chop and sausage (comes with spaghetti). Both dishes were pretty tasty and definitely recommended over the fish and chips :).

Styling Tips - Using Accessories To Create Different Looks for a Pretty Dress

Being a fashion lover, the joy of running a blogshop is largely due to the new designs I get to be exposed to on a regular basis :). Recently, we have started to introduce more "Premium" range collections for customers who prefer higher than average quality or more exclusive designs less seldom seen on the female fashion market.  Our latest collection launching tomorrow includes many of such designs and I have chosen one of my favorite pieces to be featured in this post!

This gorgeous dress is a Zara inspired design and I love it! The unique blue abstract prints caught my eyes the moment I laid eyes on this number and I like how comfortable this dress feels on my skin. The dress is already outstanding on its own but  to create a look with a more dramatic effect, I decided to glam it up with a short, layered necklace and a stylish bangle. But if you prefer to stick to a more feminine look, just matching this dress with elegant pearl or crystal accessories will suffice.
